Andrew Rizzo Updated April 27th, 2026: A lot has transpired since adidas unveiled the Adios Pro Evo 3 last week. At Saturday’s London Marathon, Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe became the first athlete to break the two-hour barrier in an official race, finishing in 1:59:30. Just eleven seconds later, Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha followed as the second.
Both runners were wearing the Adios Pro Evo 3, adidas’ first sub-100 gram super shoe. Needless to say, seeing two athletes eclipse what once felt like an untouchable benchmark is a major moment for the Three Stripes, which has been on a dominant run in marathon competition as of late. Nike, long associated with the pursuit of a sub-two-hour marathon, equipped third-place finisher Jacob Kiplimo (2:00:28) with an unreleased prototype.
Off the back of adidas’ standout showing and the wave of organic buzz that followed, the $500 model sold out almost instantly upon its limited release this morning. A wider launch is expected later this year.

History in Herzogenaurach – adidas has unveiled its latest race-day super shoe in the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3, cracking the 100-gram mark for the first time in the brand’s history.
Chalk it up as another win for the Three Stripes. adidas has been an absolutely dominant marathon performer in recent years, to the tune of six World Marathon Major wins, three world records, and one Olympic record time. That’s set an extremely high bar for the brand to surpass, which it claims to have done by making a shoe under 100 grams for the first time in its history.
Several breakthrough upgrades power the design. At the core is Lightstrike Pro Evo foam, adidas’ lightest and most responsive compound yet, shedding nearly half the weight of prior versions. It’s paired with ENERGYRIM, a new carbon-integrated system engineered to house a greater volume of foam underfoot while maintaining stability.
Taken together, the Adizero Adios Pro EVO 3 comes in 30% lighter, boosts forefoot energy return by 11%, and improves running economy by 1.6% versus the previous model. Find full tech specs below.

“Creating the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 pushed us to think differently from the very start,” says Patrick Nava, GM Running at adidas. “We weren’t just trying to improve on what we’d done before, we wanted to see how far we could go. We went through more than a dozen iterations, working closely with our athletes and testing everywhere from our labs in Herzogenaurach to high-altitude camps in Kenya and Ethiopia. At that level, every detail really matters – we were measuring things down to the nearest nanogram. It was a long process, but it’s led to something we believe genuinely changes what a race-day shoe can feel like.”
The adidas Adizero Adios Pro EVO 3 will be available in super limited quantities on April 27th via adidas and select running specialty stores. Like past versions, retail is set at $500.
