Andrew Rizzo Not that there aren’t other factors to consider, but Nike Running has to be feeling some type of way about their arch-nemesis beating them to the sub-2-hour marathon mark. Despite making it a mission nearly a decade ago, Nike has yet to have a runner crack that once-unfathomable barrier in an official race – though Eliud Kipchoge did dip under two hours at the INEOS 1:59 Challenge in 2019.
That said, Nike does at least have a spot on the podium. Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo owns the third-fastest marathon time ever as of this writing, clocking a 2:00:28 at the 2026 London Marathon in what’s believed to be an unreleased prototype of the Nike Alphafly 4. But that’s a story for another day.
For now, the Alphafly 3 continues its run with a “Black/Hyper Crimson/Wolf Grey” colorway featuring a special add-on: a silver carabiner with Swoosh cutouts. The shoe is part of a new “Nike International” pack, denoted by special markings on the insoles and medial side of the toe.
