Regardless of trends or trade winds, Nike is always ready, willing, and able to revisit their earliest running designs. Still, ongoing consumer demand for simplified, retro aesthetics has meant favorable currents for this latest wave of crate-digging, something overly visible with the Nike Moon Shoe and its first-ever retro, but also with adjacent styles like the Nike LD-1000.

After a heavy push in 2024 headlined by linking up with long-time partner Stussy, the LD-1000 has taken a bit of a backseat, stepping out every so often for the odd special edition or fresh colorway. Both apply to its latest move, as the Nike LD-1000 Flyknit makes good on its title by revamping the waffle-tread silhouette with the breezy materiality that once dominated the footwear industry. Conceptually, it does combine two distinct yet individually groundbreaking eras of Nike’s track-minded innovation. On a far more simplistic one, this makes for some easily wearable, and above all else, airy fare for the warmer months ahead.
