Whereas a basketball player could walk into any resale store and have a court-worthy pair of head-turners, those who made their bones on the turf had a far more arduous path to the headlines. Yet the big brands, always willing to pounce on opportunity, have since made it far simpler to bring street-dominant style onto the field of play.
And yes, we mean the biggest brands. adidas’ Anthony Edwards Cleats recently stamped that for the German giant, yet Nike has been fast and furious in accomplishing the same in their own right. The Air Jordan 1 has been a particular winner in this effort, checking off some of its more monumental colorways with spiked bottoms; “Bred Toe,” “Shattered Backboard,” and “Panda” being recent highlights. Now, collegiate “Georgetown” coloring is the next off the list, bringing the ’85 High colorway onto low and high cut versions of the model. True to its predecessors, sectioned back and front platforms ensure these will stand up to gameday; the most notable tooling change given the upper remains largely consistent from lifestyle pairs.
