It’s hard to imagine given his full-fledged star turn as a pro, but questions surrounding whether Anthony Edwards considered himself a football player or a basketball player were rampant around the time of the draft. In the time since then, he’s played into both his ultra-competitive persona and his seemingly boundless athletic prowess, famously taking on an Olympic table tennis player in his personal streaming debut.

When it comes to footwear, it’s only natural that the adidas Anthony Edwards empire makes its crossover introduction as a gridiron cleat. Travis Hunter, a two-way phenom for the Jaguars and a pretty close counterpart to Ant under the shield, was the first to tip off this was in the works, lacing ’em up during practice. If you aren’t in good with an equipment manager, your first chance to grab the AE1 cleat is almost at hand; official images of three individual colorways have now hit the ‘net.

Of course, the OG “Stormtrooper” / “Best of adi” is a natural choice, additionally one that was well-documented before this full suite came to life. Now flanking that simplistic edition is the Wolves-approved “Lucid Blue,” now a multi-shoe series that has recently taken on the AE2. Paging back in Ant-Man’s history, a “Georgia Bulldogs” black/red finishes out the trio, no doubt one that’ll align with additional varsity squads for on-field wear.

As mentioned above, the adidas Anthony Edwards 1 Cleats release on May 7th via adidas.com and partnering retailers, clocking in at $180 a piece. As seen in the studio shots above, adidas has confirmed similar reduxes for the 3SSB and the “Slime”/”Lucid Lime” down the road.
