Andrew Rizzo The adidas Samba has been one of the defining silhouettes of the 2020s, still riding high in a fashion landscape that’s remained keen on sleek, slim-soled models. At the same time, loafers and mules have continued gaining steam as everyday options, occasionally bleeding into the sneaker world in the process.
For Summer 2026, adidas is transforming the Samba into a slip-on, backless mule, bringing to life the type of radical concept we’ve seen customizers toy with on social media. The heel is removed entirely, while select styles feature open-knit underlays for maximum breathability. Underfoot, the classic gum sole remains unchanged.
Three adidas Samba Mule colorways have been unveiled as of this writing, including white/brown, beige, and navy options for women, with more expected down the line. The latter is something of an anomaly, featuring a closed leather upper with quilted stripes.
