If pressure builds diamonds, Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons are in a very valuable position. Coach J.B. Bickerstaff noted the challenge now facing his team down 3-2, but Detroit basketball has already conquered worse odds in the series previous. If nothing else, this playoff run has further cemented Cade Cunningham’s place as one of the league’s best and brightest young stars, something those who follow hoops shoes have known since Nike committed to granting the OSU product a signature shoe.
While we all wait with bated breath to see what Cade’s own creation will be, there’s still plenty of opportunity for Beaverton to leverage his talents. Since then, the kids’ ST Dynamite has landed via Nike stateside, complicating what we thought was planned for the two new faces. Now, the adults’ sneaker gets its widest US release yet. A “Detroit Tough” colorway – the first Cade Cunningham shoes to see a public release – will be dropping via Foot Locker online and in-store on May 20th. Bearing his #2 on the heel atop the “Monster Skin” exteriors, the shoe aligns well with the Michigan metropolis, but in truth pays homage to Cunningham’s hometown of Arlington. The white/red/blue from the city’s flag appears in heavy doses, while flares of silver on the Swoosh help further electrify this pair.
