Carpet Company, like so many skate brands, has built a foundation off of being playful, and at times, incomprehensible. That level of creative thinking is something that’s turned their infrequent dips into the world of footwear into appointment viewing, from their most known in the Nike SB Dunk High to several link-ups with Vans.

As they ring in ten years of operation, the Maryland-based brand is looking to a new friend in Salomon, but bringing some old compatriots for the ride (literally). Per Carpet Company, they’ve owned a Honda Acty van with iridescent trim and a fire red body, lovingly referred to as the “Habibi Express” by employees and founders Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem.

It’s only right that such a friends and family heirloom keep its energy intact in the shoe it spawns; the shimmering oceanic tones inspire the lace tag, while the thinned synthetic overlays of the Whisper deliver a full dose of smoldering hues. To round out, the sole unit delivers throwback chrome and darkened mustard yellow, with a bevy of branding notes including Carpet Company’s wonky star logo rounding out this edition.

The Carpet Company x Salomon XT-Whisper releases on May 16th via Carpet Company in-store, before pairs go online the following day. A wide launch via Salomon is confirmed for May 21st and partnering retailers; expect a $170 sticker price across all of those channels.
