Matt Varga Nothing shifts the narrative quite like expectations. Caitlin Clark is entering her third year in the W, and after an injury-plagued sophomore year, she and the Indiana Fever are expected to make a deep postseason run come September. Further, we’re still counting down to when she’ll debut her first signature Nike shoe, making this a pivotal campaign on multiple fronts for the Iowa sensation.
With her footwear focus soon to shift from Nike inline hoops to building out her own empire, new on-foots have been fast and furious in the opening days of the 2026 season and its prelude; a “Parent Trap” inspired Kobe 5, a similarly shaded Kobe 6, a “Coconut Milk” edition expected to be her next public release. Keeping with the entertainment inspo, Caitlin Clark debuted a “Sonic The Hedgehog” Kobe 5 in a win against the Storm. The spiny mascot’s royal blue takes over the quarter panels, bracketed by screen-accurate trim; white synthetic overlays for his gloves, a flash of red on the heel for his boots, and segments of bangle gold outlining the Swoosh, painting the heel, and on the tongue Sheath logo.
At this time, we’re not expecting this Caitlin Clark x Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Sonic the Hedgehog” to hit shelves, but we’ve been surprised in the PE-to-public pipeline before. Get a look at some in-action shots via the gallery below.
