The New Balance 1906 franchise is the best example, beginning with the 1906R and growing to include a whole slew of alternate tech runners (and one loafer) executed through different lenses.
Enter the New Balance 1906E, a new 1906 denomination distinguished by a flush mesh upper. Where the 1906R features a layered combination of mesh and synthetic leather, the 1906E opts for a fully engineered mesh upper with perforations on the forefoot and sides, the “overlays” appearing as graphics rather than separate panels. We’re immediately reminded of the 1906R no-sew, a style that curiously lacks its own unique letter designation, though that version leans more outdoorsy with a ripstop upper.
The New Balance 1906E is currently expected to release sometime in 2026 in multiple colorways, including the blue and maroon gradient styles shown below. Stay tuned for updates.
