Andrew Rizzo The retail world lost an icon last month when 7-Eleven Japan founder Toshifumi Suzuki, often called the father of Japan’s convenience store industry, passed away at 93. From the 1970s onward, Suzuki pioneered data-tailored inventory and ready-to-eat meals, helping transform convenience stores into a key part of Japanese retail scene. Call it fate, but Nike has a perfect homage lined up.
Here we have a Nike Air Max 95 inspired by the unmistakable branding and signage of the 7-Eleven chain, part of an upcoming pack alongside a Lawson-inspired colorway. Hairy suede overlays wrap the upper, including Gym Red, Sport Green, and Total Orange layers on the sides. The spine, tongue cover, toe cap, and outsole are done in Light British Tan, potentially a nod to brown paper bags, while the other major elements clean up in white and Sail. The Air Max tongue logo sports all three brand colors, joined by white and Sport Green rope laces and multicolor graphics on the insoles.
We’re of course reminded of the cancelled 7-Eleven x Nike SB Dunk Low created for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a true grail given it never saw a proper release. This Air Max 95 isn’t an official collaboration, but the homage is there nonetheless.
The Nike Air Max 95 “7-Eleven” is due out on July 11th for $200 in men’s sizes. No images of the Lawson-inspired colorway have surfaced yet, but we expect that to change in the very near future. See retailer images below and keep our Sneaker Release Dates page bookmarked for updates.
