Nike Celebrates Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup Record With An All-Gold Mercurial

CR7 adds to his GOAT mantle.

Nike Celebrates Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup Record With An All-Gold Mercurial

For those still torn on the G.O.A.T. debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi, there’s a lot riding on the 2026 World Cup. Both sides have demonstrated their cases on the big stage; Messi is continuing his goal-scoring ways with a hat trick not long ago, while Ronaldo set an incredible record by becoming the first footballer to score in six consecutive World Cups.

Nike is honoring CR7’s latest piece of football history with a special-edition Mercurial, cementing his relationship with the footwear franchise. From his World Cup debut in 2006 to his record-setting moment in 2026, Ronaldo’s tournament story has been written almost entirely through the Mercurial line and it continues with this latest “Gold” edition.

The design is appropriately direct, arriving in a full metallic gold finish with CR7 branding appearing on the heel and a gold chrome soleplate adding to the commemorative look. Rather than leaning on complicated graphics, Nike lets the colorway speak for the milestone itself.

The release also highlights one of the most important athlete-product relationships in football history. Ronaldo and the Mercurial have been linked for two decades, with the Portuguese star scoring more goals in the silo than any player ever has in a single boot franchise. It’s only right that the Mercurial is the choice for a release celebrating one of his most significant career achievements.

The Nike CR7 Mercurial Superfly RGN “Gold” will be available globally via Nike.com and select retailers on June 24th.
