Matt Varga Little Tokyo Table Tennis first stepped beyond the bounds of their inline fashion efforts and their performance title by linking up with Mizuno, but it was their ASICS GEL-Nimbus 10.1 that stamped them as a major player. Becoming a genuine object of fascination on social media and the secondary market, the only criticism you could possibly levy is how it stuck to an already existing colorway, though a custom tongue did a ton in setting that project off.
Their second capsule, just announced, is step forward in overall novelty, not only minting their own colorways but also in shining light on an otherwise untouched model from a collab perspective. The ASICS GEL-Revolution 5, introduced as a performance tennis option in 2013, is one in which the Japanese giant had been testing the lifestyle waters, but Little Tokyo Table Tennis’ effort chalks off its most notable spotlight moment to date.
The imprint goes fully retro maximalist with their work, beginning with translucent cages across either colorway, though the neon green meets that full-throatedly. Kitschy floral embossing, double laces, and airbrush embellishments add to the Y2K style either pair runs toward.
The Little Tokyo Table Tennis x ASICS GEL-Revolution 5 releases on July 25th via lttt.life and asics online. Retail pricing is yet to be confirmed.
