John Kim Nike Football is already building anticipation for one of the biggest federation changes in recent memory, and they’re doing it in New York City where the World Cup’s tense rounds are taking place.
Ahead of Germany’s switch from adidas to Nike beginning in 2027, the Swoosh has unveiled a massive floating billboard on a barge traveling along the Hudson River with a clever message: “Hallo New Jersey.” It’s a playful greeting to New Jersey, which will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium. On another, it’s an obvious nod to Germany’s upcoming Nike partnership and the reveal of a brand-new national team jersey. Front and center is Nike athlete Jamal Musiala.
Germany’s decision to leave adidas after more than seven decades marked one of the most significant apparel shakeups in international football, making Nike’s arrival a landmark moment for both the brand and the federation. For now, the new kit remains under wraps.
