Matt Varga Nike is bringing home the Bakin once again. With the OG red and black back in the consciousness, it hasn’t taken long for the Hardaway-worn model to return to the headlines, namely delivering a low-cut remodel at Paris Fashion Week (though we’ll be waiting until 2027 for its market debut) and serving as The Savior’s earnest introduction into the collab world, as the Jae Tips Air Bakin Low leaked via advance reports.
Those fresh coats of paint, in terms of sheer novelty, are understandably the main event when it comes to charting the next moves for the Air Bakin, but it’s got some more run-of-the-mill business to handle in the meantime. For longtime fans, that’s welcome news, as Nike continues working through the classic sporty looks for the ’90s sneaker.
A simplistic black/white colorway is reportedly the next one on the cards, a novel colorway that nonetheless keeps to a timeless script with its monochromatic layout. Suede materiality up top helps push this beyond its original cues. In the spaces between those greyscale hits, “Metallic Silver” accents on the Air bubbles and the flame-licked cut-outs below help accentuate some of the Bakin’s more eye-catching design notes.
