Joining the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Dodgers” among upcoming pairs is an all-new take on the model inspired by the Philadelphia Eagles, his lifelong favorite football team.
Kobe, born in Philly, was a diehard Eagles fan who regularly made it out to games throughout his playing career. After his tragic passing, the Eagles added Kobe’s “10 Rules” to the wall outside the locker room at their training facility, a tribute that speaks to just how deep that connection ran.
Shared by Vanessa Bryant as part of a larger preview of upcoming Kobes, the Kobe 5 Protro “Eagles” balances Pine Green suede and white pebbled leather across the main portion of the upper. The Swoosh is especially notable, taken in Vast Grey chenille fabric with stitched white piping.
We’re immediately thinking Jalen Brunson, the de facto face of Kobe Brand in the NBA, will love these, the reigning NBA Finals MVP also a diehard Eagles fan due to spending his early childhood in South Jersey. Knicks (and New York Giants) fans will have to give him a pass if he laces these up in a game, not that he doesn’t already have an endless supply. We should note that this technically isn’t the first “Eagles” Kobe Bryant shoe out there, preceded by pairs like the Kobe 10 “Liberty.”
