Ronaldo just put his partners at Nike on the clock. Speaking at the House of Mercurial at Nike’s old 21 Mercer location in NYC, the Brazil legend said he would love to see a Travis Scott x Nike Mercurial R9 collab in time for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
That’s a massive compliment from Ronaldo, essentially co-signing a Scott collaboration on his own signature cleat. Not that we’re ready to move on from 2026 just yet, but 2030 marks another massive moment as the tournament’s 100th anniversary year. Countries will play across three different continents, including early matches in South America before shifting to Portugal, Spain, and Morocco, three countries that have been among the most exciting watches this go-round.
Travis Scott is fresh off his first-ever Nike Football boot collaboration, recently dropping indoor and outdoor versions of the Phantom 6. Nike has clearly invested in cementing the s-tier celebrity’s connection to soccer, bringing him and the whole Cactus Jack crew out to celebrate the Nike Toma National Finals in NYC’s Bryant Park a few weeks back. That trajectory, combined with Ronaldo’s co-sign, leads us to believe an actual crossover could very well happen come 2030.
