Andrew Rizzo Hiroshi Fujiwara’s large backlog of Nike work has ensured that his name will always be one to watch when it comes to sneaker teasers, no matter how unassuming they might be. The Fragment Design founder has posted to Instagram with what might be his next collaboration, the LD-1000 rendered in his signature color palette.
If we’re being completely honest, if this was a general release, nobody would care. Several colorways of this same simple color blocking are readily available on Nike.com right now, most of them on sale. That’s not to throw shade on the model, though, one of Nike’s first-ever sneakers and a strong, accessible option that sits squarely within the ongoing slim shoe movement.
Hiroshi’s pair delivers an understated color combo, anchored by a Fragment blue Swoosh over a silver mesh foundation. The tongue is cleverly hidden so as to open the question: is this a collab or general release? One would probably sell out, while the other would join its counterparts on the sale rack. Hiroshi definitely has the juice to get a personal SMU made for himself as well, so that shouldn’t be ruled out as a surprise third possibility. In any case, the low-key approach is nothing new. Such was the case with the recent Fragment Nike Mind 001 and Liquid Max, both rendered in simple, GR-adjacent black colorways.
