New Balance Cracks A Grandpa-Approved 991v2 “Walnut”

If this newly uncovered New Balance 991v2 is any indication of what the brand’s “Made in England” division has lined up for autumn, we’re in for a strong season. The top-shelf lifestyle silhouette is dressing in a “Walnut/Shitake” colorway that feels wonderfully seasonal and almost instinctively aligned with British leisurewear, arriving August 2026 for $250.

The gears are always turning at New Balance’s Flimby, England factory, but if there’s one season when the “Made in England” line feels especially at home, it’s fall. The annual shift toward browns, tans, and other earth tones dovetails almost perfectly with the traditional British footwear vocabulary the line has increasingly embraced, most notably through the Allerdale and select executions of other heritage models.

This New Balance 991v2 is grandpa-approved in the best possible way. Save for the outsole and interior, nearly the entire shoe is rendered in complementary Walnut and Shitake shades, creating a rich, understated two-tone palette. The model once again leans on its standard premium construction, pairing buttery suede overlays with leather underlays and a breathable mesh foundation. FuelCell, ABZORB, and ENCAP cushioning preserve the 991v2’s reputation for all-day comfort underfoot.

The New Balance 991v2 “Walnut/Shitake” is releases August 20th for $250. See official images below and visit our Sneaker Release Dates page for more.
