Original article published August 7th, 2026:

The crossover colorway, so hot right now. After the Nike Kobe 6 “Dodgers” became one of the more voluminous resale commodities of 2025, the Swoosh sought to run it back with the impending sequel, as we count down the days until the Kobe 5 “Dodgers.” Pair that with the well-developed “Halo” and “Mambacita” series that’s brought fresh faces into the Protro program this decade, and you’ve got real precedent behind another entry: the Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro “Grinch.”

To pull the veil back a bit, it’s unconfirmed whether this updated version indeed shares the Christmas title of its forebear, but with how that Kobe 6 release has become arguably the most iconic pair in his lineage, the similarities are hard to ignore. Shared by European hoops retailer basket4ballers, the most obvious connection is a neon lime upper, flooding the toe, base layer, and the TPU “net” containment on either side.

Where this pair differs is with aquamarine trim included on the heel, in a gradient midsole, and in a shining tongue badge. We’d bet that the store added these red laces to make its video all the more unmissable, but this might just be the best “consolation” colorway in the Kobe line since the Grinch returned in 2020.

The Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro “Grinch” is expected to release this September, retailing for $190. Catch in-hand photos below; we’ll keep you posted as we learn any additional details via this page and our Sneaker Release Dates hub.
