Andrew Rizzo A longtime pro wrestling superfan and frequent face at WWE premium live events, Lil Yachty has made the move over the barricade and is now living out a childhood dream with his recent work for the brand. Most WWE celebrity cameos tend to irk wrestling fans (see Travis Scott), but take it from someone tuned into the space: Lil Yachty appreciates the art form, and he’s earned major respect from those who tune in weekly. His role is a damn near perfect one, too, with Lil Boat serving as hypeman and ringside help for rapidly-rising star Trick Williams.
Yachty’s formal work with WWE, which began in earnest back in March, reached a new pinnacle at Sunday Night’s Main Event this weekend with the rapper’s first-ever match. Lasting five minutes in the ring with Baron Corbin earned Trick a shot at Corbin’s United States Championship that same night, a match Trick would go on to win. For a stage like that, and more importantly for such a meaningful milestone in Yachty’s own life, of course Nike had to hook him up with something special.
Yachty, who already runs an ongoing collaborative Air Force 1 “Concrete Boys” series with the Swoosh, popped out in gold leather Nike wrestling boots featuring his Concrete Boys logo stitched onto the back. The model is called the Nike Speedsweep 8 and is currently available for purchase in adult and grade school sizes, though you’ll probably never see them get any marketing since this is a pretty under-the-radar corner of the Nike catalog. Trick and Yachty are known for coming out in flashy fits, including Trick in his mink coat and patented “lemon peppa steppas” and Yachty in matching white streetwear. The PEs certainly fit within that lane.
