The greatest trick John Donahue ever pulled was convincing the world that the Air Force 1 was going into hibernation. Few earnings call reports have gotten more burn on our front page than his proclamation in 2024 that the uptown would see reduced stock in the years to come, a strategy aimed at fending off silhouette stagnation and by proxy, prioritizing more novel inventions.

Despite what we and other industry watchers may have expected, the Air Force 1 remains a focus on both the GR slate and the collab newswire; “Horse of a Different Color” or Victor Victor, ‘01 shape or Travis Scott. For its latest widely-available pair, the Air Force 1 (‘07) echoes La Flame’s “Phantom” Jordan 1 Low OG, reaching for a formula that already yielded a massively coveted product. To be sure, without the rapper’s co-sign, it’s highly unlikely the same secondary market success is replicated by this pair, but it’s impossible not to note the similarities. Atop a black leather foundation, the AF1 goes all in on white contrast stitching, a suitable way to add depth to what’s otherwise a “Triple Black” arrangement.

As a run-of-the-mill GR, expect the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Contrast Stitch” to appear on Nike.com and on retailer shelves sometime before the end of 2026. Women’s sizing and a $115 retail price is confirmed.
