Andrew Rizzo Paul George’s signature sneaker line was one of the best of its generation, which is why hoopers were upset when Nike discontinued it, and thrilled to see it return when the news broke late last year. We haven’t lost hope that the PG 1’s retro run will make its way stateside eventually, but for now the model keeps trotting out Asia-exclusive retros of once sought-after original colorways.
Next up is the return of the Nike PG 1 “Elements,” originally released in 2017 and now back nearly a decade later. The look has always given off slight UNDEFEATED vibes, mimicking flight jackets and, by extension, the Los Angeles brand’s iconic Air Jordan 4 collab. That being said, the sneaker is officially inspired by Paul George’s love for fishing.
The upper leans on Medium Olive Green across both the mesh forefoot and the hairy suede placements on each side. The tongue branding and Flywire cables joined to the forefoot strap appear in Team Orange, while black paint splatter decorates a white midsole underfoot.
While nearly a decade old, the PG 1 is still plenty viable as a performance option, especially for those who prefer a simpler setup (even if it wasn’t considered one at the time). Zoom Air cushioning lives in the forefoot, while Phylon foam makes up the heel.
