The Beaverton brand has proven time and again its shrewdness in taking cues from successful footwear projects, though the long design-to-production timeline means brands can’t be too reactionary, and comparable looks have often been in the works longer than their collab counterparts.
Here we have a Nike Vomero Premium somewhat evocative of Melissa Baumeister’s work on the model, taking on a brushed metallic Gridiron blue finish across the double-stuffed midsole. The comparison is purely an aesthetic one as Melissa Baumeister’s collab was done up in orange. The throughline is that both shoes are made to look like they’ve been dipped in ink, albeit in very different ways. The upper of this pair arrives in black, while the eyelets and “AIR” detailing return to the dark blue shade on display underfoot.
