Matt Varga With first looks now off the board for the Nike GT Flight and Nike GT Force, we’re staring down a new era for the Swoosh’s “Greater Than” family. It’s a further extension of the futuristic lean of the GT Cut 4 and Future itself, but for those who have fallen in love with Beaverton’s inline basketball family, don’t fret. The continuing push behind the GT Cut 1 Retro showcases that the company is keenly aware when one of their designs really turns red hot, and a new colorway for the revived silhouette takes that to heart.
Appearing on Nike overseas channels, the Nike GT Cut 1 “Hot Rod” kits out the drop-in performance model with flame-licked midsoles, as proud red wisps paint the midsole before culminating in translucent orange traction at the very bottom. Taking the shoe across the entire spectrum of visible temperature, metallic blue hits on the jagged lacestay and on the rear branding add some cooler contrast to those warm tones used so heavily on this pair.
Again, the Nike GT Cut 1 “Hot Red” has first come onto the newswire in the Asia “EP” (engineered performance) version, but a stateside release seems like a distinct possibility.
