With the specter of a ferocious player-ownership battle looming for the offseason, it certainly feels like the stakes for this year are higher than your average postseason. Of course, the Los Angeles Dodgers are at the center of the baseball universe again, aiming for their third consecutive pennant and fourth this decade. If you’re one of the historic franchise’s faithful, Vans and the Dodgers have something in store as you root on Ohtani and co.
While the skate brand and baseball league may not seem like the most synergistic relationship, the MLB and Vans have indeed teamed up several times in modern times, with 2010 and 2017 each letting loose collaborative capsules for some of the biggest franchises.
This individualized team-up between the Dodgers and Vans is far more narrow in scope, bringing together two California cultural staples on the Skate Era and the SK8 Hi. Though the shoe brand’s hallmarks shine through with blue and white checkerboard applications and pre-distressed details, this is a Dodgers-forward, plenty Dodgers-forward; script spellouts and LA emblems in the upper pair with alternating outsoles for plenty of team spirit. Similarly contrasting gradient insoles and red baseball stitching add some final character.
