Matt Varga Action Bronson’s New Balance 2811 and the New Balance 983 may outrank it in terms of overall newness, but don’t forget about the New Balance 1890. By any standard, the model is still absolutely brand new, both in its standard variation and its various offshoots. One of those spin-off versions, the New Balance 1890P, is adding two new colorway options in brown/black and black/green for the home stretch.
Whereas the “default” layout of the New Balance 1890 relies on thinned synthetic overlays and a sleek overall body, the New Balance 1890P cuts the opposite way, adding leather stripes and hardened shells to the toe of the mashup tech runner. The first two pairs we saw from this build leaned on color-forward, vibrant palettes of bubblegum pink and deep purple; this latest duo turns things over to an earthier way of being, pairing stealthy jet black and natural green or rich brown and contrasting deep navy.
These brown/blue and black/green options for the New Balance 1890P should be appearing on NewBalance.com and at partnering retailers in the short term. A $180 retail price is expected for both.
