Andrew Rizzo Even after years of increasingly wild link-ups, Crocs and its collaborators haven’t lost their ability to surprise. If anything, the brand’s willingness to let partners run completely off-leash has only gotten more entertaining. Sneaker Politics’ latest might be one of the year’s most subversive, the Southern retailer staying close to home with a Crocs Echo II pulled straight from the Southern backwoods.
The centerpiece is a ghillie-style shroud resembling an exceptionally shaggy carpet, its strands of green mimicking long grass and effectively turning your feet into two oversized mop heads. But there’s more hiding underneath. Remove the shroud and you’ll find the Echo II in a copper-orange colorway inspired by the venomous copperhead, a fitting bit of danger lurking beneath the undergrowth. The upper itself takes cues from tree bark and is outfitted with a collection of Jibbitz charms, including a snake bite kit and a hidden orange copperhead. Orange-and-black snake print carries onto the strap and footbed, while the chunky sole unit cleans up in solid orange.
The success of other recent camo Crocs releases, from the Realtree Classic Clog to countless others, has proven that the look can translate into serious demand. If you’re already loyal to camo Crocs but want to take things a bit further, these make a pretty compelling next step.
