With the Anthony Davis trade, a front office overhaul, and some key offseason moves, the Dallas Mavericks have cleanly turned the page to a new era, firmly stacking the future of their franchise on Maine native and now sophomore sensation Cooper Flagg. Though unquestionably they’ve got plenty of talent besides the rising forward, there’s little doubt that New Balance is aiming for the same as the Duke product begins to build his legacy. Now, New Balance and Cooper Flagg have taken another step, unveiling the signature logo that’ll arrive on any and all product bearing his name in the future.
Playing into his arboreal home state, the Flagg signature logo features rigid “CF” initials, with the left half bearing pine tree embellishments on its side.
The logo design represents me. It connects to my name, but also to my roots, which is something that was really important to me,” said New Balance athlete, Cooper Flagg. “Where I’m from, there are a lot of trees, so you’ll see the pine tree cutouts on the side as a reminder of staying true to who I am and where I grew up. I wanted to include hints of Maine while keeping the design clean and something that feels like me. – Cooper Flagg on unveiling his signature logo
Even if New Balance hasn’t officially announced it, we’re interpreting this as another pavestone on the way to his own shoe; if and when that comes, he’ll join the likes of All-NBAers Tyrese Maxey and Kawhi Leonard as NBA athletes with their own designs. Still, in the interim between his signing and that eventual reveal, the Boston brand hasn’t wasted any time in leveraging his budding star power. He can be seen in the company’s ongoing “We Got Now” campaign, designed to show off the A-list athletes on their roster, and debuted the New Balance 950 in a rookie tunnel walk moment.
