Andrew Rizzo If only we could get Kobe Bryant’s take on this version of Jalen Brunson. The Knicks captain has become the living embodiment of the work ethic that defined Kobe, repeatedly overcoming the limitations and expectations placed on him to become one of the NBA’s best, and arguably the most natural face of Kobe footwear in the league. That relationship will continue into the coming seasons, with Brunson himself confirming two more personal PEs on the way.
Speaking on his “Roommates Show” podcast, Brunson confirmed that the Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro “Arancia” will release in December. The Knicks-inspired colorway dresses the Kobe 3 in orange with blue Swoosh detailing, giving Brunson another distinctly NYC makeup in the vein of last year’s “Statue of Liberty” Kobe 6. As his Kobe portfolio continues to grow, it’s safe to expect more of these NYC-specific colorways.
Jalen also confirmed the Kobe 5 Protro “What The Rick,” a personal tribute to his father, Rick, and his career as an NBA journeyman. For all the questions Jalen gets about how hard he works, he often takes it back to his father, saying that moving from city to city with a family, never knowing where you’ll be playing next, is harder than anything. The “What The Rick” arrives further down the line in Spring/Summer 2027.
