The New Balanc e9060 has been in focus through New Balance’s Fall/Winter slate, but perhaps in a more indirect way than ever before. The bulky hybrid has been a solid choice in the catalog for years now, yet its big moment through Q4 has come through countless comparisons to the New Balance 983, a silhouette that appears to be pushing for the same lane as the 9060.
Perhaps that makes this the perfect time to distinguish itself. The 9060 has already entered the offshoot machine this year with the New Balance 9060R, echoing the New Balance 993’s upper construction, and now pushes out a fresh trail-inspired take. Lace toggles and suede materiality throughout the shoe make for the biggest changes, but these two initial colorways also utilize fresh colorblocking. To truly make good on outdoorsy inspo, darkened shades of olive and purple find hi-vis contrast in neon green and bright pink trim, respectively.
This trail offshoot of the New Balance 9060 is already available via New Balance global channels; a stateside launch shouldn’t be too far off. The usual $160 retail price is expected once that comes to pass.
