Nike Brings The Kobe “Mamba Eterno” Colorway To The Dunk Low

With news of the Nike Kobe 7 “Invisibility Cloak” inducting the Mamba’s seventh sneaker into the Protro program, we’re officially down to just one signature that’s devoid of a performance re-take. Yet the Swoosh has done well to carve out additional real estate for the late legend’s footwear empire, from the impending Kobe NXT Prototype to lifestyle flanks like the Air Force 1. As we count down to the Nike Kobe 3 “Mamba Eterno,” one such silhouette is back in focus with the Dunk Low of the same name.

For those who haven’t caught our coverage of the actual hoop shoe, the “Mamba Eterno” program is a nod to Dia De Los Muertos, surely a nod to Los Angeles’ vibrant Latino community and perhaps to Vanessa’s own Mexican heritage. On this Dunk Low, that manifests in rich embroidered textures and distressed laces, emphasizing the spooky aspects of the holiday. To finish that out, black and orange coloring collide on the upper before “Mamba Eterno” embroidered insoles alternate between teal and purple tones.

Zooming out, the strategy behind the Kobe Dunk Low and Kobe Air Force 1 is beginning to solidify. Whereas the Air Force 1 often drops off colorways paired to general release performance wear, the Dunk Low is typically deployed on more “special edition” occasions. The FC Barcelona collab, WNBA All-Star, Lower Merion High duo, and Draft Day are the last launches we’ve seen for the branded lifestyle offering.

We expect the Nike x Kobe Dunk Low “Mamba Eterno” to drop alongside the Kobe 3 Low on October 30th. This pair will command a $130 retail price in adult sizing; GS pairs are also dropping.
