We’re getting some warm and fuzzy holiday vibes from New Balance’s latest 1890 colorway, or at least the name of it. Arriving well ahead of Christmas market season, the new “Mulled Wine” edition serves up a cold-weather-ready look with deep red across the upper and midsole, taking cues from the seasonal beverage that inspires its name.

Sat next to myriad other retro-inspired tech runners by New Balance and other brands, the 1890 brings together distinctive overlays and visible ABZORB cushioning. The titular “Mulled Wine” shade does most of the heavy lifting here, offset by silver hits on the “N” logos and the edges of the forefoot overlays. Black leather and mesh round out the heel, while subtle paint flakes land on a dark grey outsole.
