Combine clothing and art with a pinch of baseball and a whole heap of running culture and you get HOMERUN NYC, a Brooklyn-based collective and running specialty store that perfectly epoitomizes the kind of brans we’re seeing pop up in the elevated running genre today. Its intentionally mysterious identity has caught the intrigue of Nike, the two linking multiple times on a series of footwear projects bearing the HOMERUN logo. Hot on the heels of the New York City Marathon, the HOMERUN collective and its people are spending zero time catching their breath, here debuting a surprising new collaboration on the Air Trainer SC Low.
HOMERUN NYC has come out with a number of quasi-collabs to date, including event and location-specific takes on the Air Force 1, Air Max Plus, and Vomero Plus. This latest project reads as the brand’s most important yet, the main reason being that the Air Trainer SC Low has been out of syndication for a bit. It now appears Nike has gotten the cobwebs off those machines and is ready to fire up its retro cross trainer pipeline again, starting here with a collab by one of its most crucial partners in the booming NYC running space. New pics posted to Instagram by @colinfromhomerun show a dude tagging a wall on the marathon route wearing a black Air Trainer SC Low, alongside images of the outsole showing some white graffiti around the forefoot.
As for the model at hand, the Air Trainer SC Low debuted in the late 1980s as a versatile option for all sorts of activities, most famously associated with multi-sport legend Bo Jackson. Given HOMERUN’s diverse, somewhat vague brand identity, the model to brand pairing is pretty appropriate in our eyes.
That’s all for now, but more info regarding the supposed HOMERUN NYC x Nike Air Trainer SC Low should come to light in the near future. Check out detailed teaser pics below and keep our Sneaker Release Dates page locked and loaded for all the latest.
