If school has taught us anything, it’s that history often repeats itself. The same lesson can be applied to Nike as well — especially now, considering that retros are a well-established part of their releases. And soon, the brand’s collection of revivals is to grow by yet another next week with the Air Griffey Max 1 “Freshwater.”
Originally released in the 90s, the silhouette is arguably one of the most important baseball signatures of all-time, bearing the name of Ken Griffey Jr whose standout play is revered even to this day. Now, for 2021, the Swoosh is throwing it all the way back to what started it all, revisiting the “Freshwater” colorway with a near-original spec. White dresses the side walls between matted black overlays, while the Kid’s “24” is stamped in bold atop the strap. Then, along the tread, miniature checks, and pulls, the titular green comes into play, accenting against the aforementioned neutrals as well as a slight hit of red.

In other news, the Jordan 6 Carmine is coming this Saturday. Are you ready?
