Ahead of the US Open, Cori “Coco” Gauff and her New Balance family are set to launch a colorful apparel and footwear capsule fitting of the 17-year-old’s game and attitude.
While the included clothing draw inspiration from the 1990s, the collection’s headliner, the New Balance 327, is rooted in a much earlier time period. The 1970s-informed leisure sneaker maintains design cues from running sneakers like the New Balance SuperComp (’77), and covers them in fluorescent pink, eye-catching red and orange tones. Furthermore, the asymmetrical arrangement includes gold chain detailing on the medial profiles, a nod to Gauff’s penchant for statement pieces in her day-to-day fashion. Sole units maintain a uniform look the the bulk of the upper, although sock-liners make one final callback to the Atlanta-born tennis talent.
