Michael Le Virgil Abloh‘s passing is still difficult to grasp, as he left such an impression on the world of sneakers as well as fashion. Nike, like many of us, mourns the late designer, and they’re soon to pay tribute to his legacy with the official release of the Off-White x Nike Blazer Low.
During the creation of the shoe, Abloh became focused on “mixing languages for a new signature.” This is exemplified most in the shoe’s heel piece, which draws inspiration from the Terra Humara. In text message, Abloh “coyly” asked the following: “Can we… splice the real Humara tooling and fuse it into a vulcanized sole?”
Seeded to close friends earlier in the month, the Off-White x Nike Blazer Low — which is slated to release in both a white and black colorway — exudes Abloh’s charm. Holes, often likened to swiss cheese, are found throughout the upper, their cut-outs partially obscured by the additional laces. Elsewhere, the heel is sharpened to a point, its shape and coloring reminiscent of the Terra Humara, as mentioned above.
Complete with Helvetica across the side and laces as well as the signature zip-tie, the Off-White x Nike Blazer Low will be available globally on April 8th via Nike SNKRS and possibly select retailers.
