Originally launched in 2006, JJJJound has very quickly evolved from a humble digital mood board into a well-respected design studio, whose work ranges from premium basics to collaborations with some of the most important names in sneakers and beyond. And in 2022, Justin Saunders and team will be working with ASICS for the very first time, collaborating on not one but two colorways of the much-beloved GEL-Kayano 14.
Deceptively simple, JJJJound’s interpretation of the GEL-Kayano 14 is heavily inspired by the 2000s. This is evident across both pairs’ constructions, which are predominantly clad in silver metallic overlays. The similarities end as we come to the white mesh underneath, however, as the two colorways either begin to deviate or conform. On one, the neutral base clashes against the black detailing through the tiger stripe and fixtures adjacent; opposite, the shade blends into rest of the shoe, whose bottom lacks the comprehensive, cream look of its counterpart.
Aligning themselves with ASICS’ own design approach, which promotes a healthy and happy lifestyle, JJJJound has enhanced the GEL-Kayano 14’s performance capabilities, fitting the model with updated materials and componentry without sacrificing its signature elements.
