After a month of teaser images, the Bricks & Wood x New Balance 9060 will finally see a retail launch on Jan. 19 at an exclusive pop-up event in Paris; online drop via the streetwear label’s online store; and global release on Jan. 30.
At first glance, the upcoming collaboration seemed to play into Bricks & Wood’s affinity for neutral tones and green, but owner and co-founder of the imprint, Kacey Lynch, took to social media on Jan. 13 to reveal the inspiration behind the pair: his grandmother’s home. Accompanied by the tagline “Nothing changed but the address,” the unreleased New Balance speaks to Lynch and company’s belief that one should remember where they come from wherever they go. The green across the NB 9060’s sole unit resembles the grass lawn in front of the cream and grey-colored house in which Lynch grew up, a place he holds near-and-dear to his heart as he travels outside of South Central, Los Angeles to live out his dreams.
Bricks & Wood’s second New Balance collaboration will first launch at PaperBoy in Paris on Jan. 19 from 4pm to 9pm CET; the event will be open to the public. The NB 9060 will then see a US-based online drop via bricksandwood.us, which will be followed up by pop-up events in New York City and LA on Jan. 23 and 28, respectively.
