As one of the most popular and versatile silhouettes within the Boston brand’s extensive archives, the New Balance 550 was dusted off in 2020 to a concerted revitalization featuring a bevy of disparate styles for a myriad of different preferences. After previewing a number of the basketball oxford’s upcoming offerings throughout the past few months, New Balance has since coordinated the latter onslaught of pairs to release all under the same month in April.
Featuring six total ensembles, a dissimilar tincture is brought to each proposition anchored by a crisp white base layer – save its “Turtledove” silhouette which stands apart from the rest as the only clad tonal aesthetic, coated entirely in a soft cream composition. Extending outward from the use of singular tints, a duo of tones encompasses the pink and grey accented pair before a trio of tones curtails the LA Rams-inspired counterpart while exploring opposing ends of the color wheel with a black/grey and bright red/blue models.
The first batch of sneakers including the “Turtledove”, “True Red/Atlantic Blue”, “Raincloud” and “Bubblegum” color blockings will ready the New Balance 550 for a dominant spring on April 6th with a retail price of $110, except the clad cream effort which receives a $10 markup. While we await the collection’s release, enjoy official images alongside store lists for each colorway below.
