Over the past few seasons, the Nike Air Max Plus has been dressing in honorary colorways inspired by cities around the world boasting a significant street culture. Having already drummed up “Saint-Denis”, “Brixton” and “Berlin” iterations, the heralded Sean McDowell design now embarks on a tribute to the port city of Marseille, France.
Drawing inspiration from the cerulean blue Marseille Coat of Arms, the OG Sean McDowell design explores a summer-ready proposition gleaming in brightly tinted hues. Crisp white shades dominate the upper embellishments nearly in full, accenting its mesh base layer with a veined grid effect of grey lines that resembles the design of the Velodrome stadium. Underfoot, the full-length Max Air cushioning system is injected with a vibrant blue tone that amplifies the gradient TPU panels and lace loops while the Flag of Marseille is imbued within the jewel tongue logo. Furthermore, the tongue construction is stricken with the coat of arms written out vertically.
