Patta – and by extension Amsterdam – is synonymous with the Nike Air Max 1. Although the Dutch imprint has worked on Tinker Hatfield’s revolutionary design as recent as August 2022, it seems Patta will revisit the silhouette with a “Chlorophyll” makeover next year.
For the uninformed, the European label – founded by Guillaume Schmidt and Edson Sabajo – is responsible for some of the most celebrated and coveted Air Max 1s of all-time. In 2009, Patta celebrated its 5th anniversary with a special pair covered in “Chlorophyll”-colored fabric. The sneaker was a lot tamer than other work by Schmidt, Sabajo, and company, but equally celebrated for its refreshing update to Hatfield’s creation from 1987. Patta hasn’t been the only group to use “Chlorophyll” flair to swoosh-branded product (Nike’s original Air Trainer 1 did so two decades earlier), but it’s been often associated with the rich green hue.
According to Air Max-obsessed page @bubblekoppe, an Air Max 1 covered in “Chlorophyll/Matte Silver” by Patta will release by Fall 2024. No speculative mock-up or breakdown of the color-blocking has been provided as of this writing, but the sneaker (SKU: HF1012-300) could invert its predecessor’s look. The rumor arrives as the Amsterdam-based institution inches closer to its 20th anniversary, an appropriate occasion to revisit one of its greatest hits.
Stay tuned for updates on this story here and by following @sneakernews on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. If the rumor is true, the next Patta Air Max 1 “Chlorophyll” should release via the Nike SNKRS app for $160 USD.
For confirmed sneaker news, the “Kobe Reverse Grinch” releases in mid-December.
