Even as the continued run of Travis Scott collabs raise the profile of earthy adult Nike’s, the sneaker giant is jumping into that same lane for the kids. The upcoming “Light Bone/Hemp” Air Max 1 provides an early autumnal line for the iconic shoe, and is set to arrive in the very near future.
It’s safe to say that the mark of kids Nike releases is usually eccentric, playful patterns. Here, this Air Max 1 goes in a patently more mature direction, draping the sneakers in a temperate smattering of beige. The neutral tone of the mesh upper, sock liner, midsole and laces may initially register as the familiar white that usually centers the AM1, but is actually a “Hemp” shade that helps accent the other tones on the shoe.
The color on the Swoosh here continues a strong, AM-heavy push for one of Nike’s chosen signature shades in the past calendar year. “Smokey Mauve” graced the Air Max Flyknit Venture and Air Max 90 Futura last week, and landed on the Air Max 1 and Nike Dunk Low back in October.
Available in sizes from 3.5Y to 7Y, this Air Max 1 will retail for $100. Expect a rollout to begin in the next handful of weeks.
If you’re still in the market for more grade school kicks, look no further than the “Photo Blue” Air Max 95.
