Stone Island And New Balance Join Up For The 574 Legacy

The New Balance Stone Island 574 Legacy collection lands June 14th, both pairs retailing for $140. Sticking in characteristically neutral territory, the retooled take on the New Balance 574 gets decked out in a blend of olive green on notes one pair, with a brighter blend of teal & wheat hues on the other. A wide drop through NewBalance.com coincides with a release through select retailers; catch the full list of stores carrying stock via “Where To Buy” sections for each shoe just ahead.

Few collaborations have as much geographical sway as Stone Island x New Balance. The imprints, each central to the British streetwear scene, first came together with a one-off collab more than a decade ago before their partnership was renewed in more concrete fashion in 2021. Though models like the New Balance 991v2 and various football boots had their time in the sun, the tentpole of the relationship is the New Balance 574, once again in the spotlight for their latest linkup.

Notably, the New Balance 574 Legacy is the canvas here, a 2022 formulation that Stone Island took to last Spring. Speaking in broad strokes, the full structure is exaggerated and sized up, bringing a taller sole, jutting ENCAP unit and extended toebox to NB’s low-cost fan favorite. On this capsule, Stone Island’s contributions result in a typically low-key end product, though the addition of grid patterned synthetic underpinnings imbue a utility-minded atmosphere. While the olive pair fully expresses earthy neutrals, the aquamarine & ochre edition allows for some pop within those same understated bounds. Closing out the design of each, the midsole splits between off-white and eggshell while the special edition nature is driven home with compass logo tongue patches.

The Stone Island x New Balance 574 Legacy collection lands on June 14th. Expect both pairs to first make their debut via Stone Island channels (online and in-store.) If this drop keeps with similar past ones, a global NewBalance.com launch will likely follow, but further details aren’t yet confirmed.

Elsewhere for the Boston brand, the draw for all three pairs of Aime Leon Dore New Balance 1000 is open.
