The Pollex Clog has gone from surprise silhouette to a truly bankable asset for Salehe Bembury and the Colorado company both. Even as the NYC designer’s empire expands, the fingerprint patterned model remains a point of emphasis, showcased in holiday-themed fashion with the latest drop of “Manta” and “Borealis” colorways.
As with previous looks, either colorway is a total treatment in each shade, with the larger size run clad in neutral “Manta” grey. The kids’ pair has already recieved the larger fan support even at this early stage. Though seemingly displaying the same neon green shade in either low or high light, the biggest selling point for the GS and below pair is glow-in-the-dark tech. Instead of simply limiting that touch underfoot like on typical kids wear, the full shoe displays the luminescence.
From a strategic standpoint, this redoubles the bond between Crocs and Salehe Bembury, already ratified with the Crocs Juniper getting its first wide release not too long ago. Though Bembury’s empire continues to grow with fresh New Balance collaborations and his appointment as director of PUMA’s basketball division, the Pollex model is seemingly safe as his bread & butter for the foreseeable future.
The Pollex Clog in “Manta” & “Borealis” land via the designer’s beaspunge.com site on October 17th. Judging from past releases, expect a $90 price tag for adults and a $70 one for kids. A wider Crocs.com release will almost assuredly follow Bembury’s initial drop.
