Sneaker News has profiled more custom kicks in the first half of 2011 than our entire history before that combined, and while there’s no doubting the talent of today’s emerging artists, it’s equally obvious that they owe quite a bit to pioneers like the guy (whose work is) pictured above. Mark Ong aka SBTG has been putting custom paint on Nike Sportswear classics and Air Jordan Legacy models for years now, his latest work commissioned to commemorate the one year anniversary of Philippine sneaker boutique Titan. The SBTG x UNSCHLD x Titan team-up extends the ‘Varsity Bones’ theme that we saw two years ago imagine what it could have been like had Kobe Bryant followed through on his plan to attend Duke University — this new collaboration extends the series into another imaginary underdog squad, the Deer Valley Titans. The collection includes an Air Jordan III, a Nike Blazer Mid and a Dunk High, each in the “school’s” red, black, blue and teal palette, and they’ll be available at Titan this Friday, August 5th starting at 6 pm local time. Click through to see SBTG’s latest customs and stick with Sneaker News for updates on the next DVT collection that we expect to release in October.
