The 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend continued with Saturday night’s events, which featured the Foot Locker 3-point Shootout, Taco Bell Skills Challenge, All-Star Shooting Stars Competition, and the headlining act, the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. There was plenty of sneaker action to take notice, beginning with the insane space-themed PEs of the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 (and a Low version), Nike Zoom Hyperfuse 2011, and the Nike Zoom Brave V (worn by Tony Parker) spotted during the Skills Competition. During the three-point shootout, James Jones wore a White/Red/Yellow colorway of LeBron 9, while runner-up Kevin Durant wore the KD IV ‘Dragon’ on one foot and the Grey/Yellow on the other. Paul George got creative by making himself glow in the dark while rocking the Air Flight One NRG during his spectacular dunk.
It’s hard not to give the top sneaker spot to one of the contemporary sneaker releases spotted during the night, but that prized label goes to Allan Houston, the former New York Knick who teamed up with Landry Fields and Cappie Pondexter during the Shooting Stars Competition; the former Nike athlete, who wore some sick PEs back in the day, wore the Nike Air Flightposite III, which conveniently fit in with the ‘space travel’ theme due to its funky alien-like panels on the upper.
