August 24th is Mamba Day, an aptly-timed “holiday” created by Nike to honor Kobe Bryant‘s legacy, and for 2019 they’ve teamed with UNDEFEATED once again to celebrate with a four-pack of special Zoom Kobe 4 Protros, one of which is this Spurs-inspired makeup for guard DeMar DeRozan. The de facto torchbearer for the Nike Kobe line after Bryant’s retirement, DeRozan is certainly no stranger to PEs and special colorways, and this new Kobe 4 takes an alternate route, using retro San Antonio Spurs hues to provide a bold look. Teal patent leather and synthetics collide on the low-cut upper, while vibrant mango accents are sprinkled thorough for contrast. There’s plenty of special details here as well, thanks to tongues split between Kobe’s signature sheath logo (right shoe) and the recognizable UNDEFEATED five strike (left shoe) plus heels that offer his original #8, later-career #24, and glimmering UNDEFEATED text logo hits. The white midsole is equipped with Zoom Air cushioning, and the outsole’s unique traction pattern is accented by translucent orange pops. These ultra-bold Nike shoes will release on August 24th for $180 USD via Nike.com and Undefeated alongside makeups for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Devin Booker, and Kyle Kuzma, so enjoy a full set of images below while you wait.
