Converse has been quieter about its plans for 2021 than its NIKE, Inc. counterparts. Yet, the storied brand has just confirmed an impressive roster of collaborators for spring and summer. Among it, Off-White, Tyler, the Creator, Comme des Garçons PLAY and more.
“An important value of Converse is one that respects, honors and wants to continue to foster creativity,” said Brandis Russell, VP of Footwear.
Although the Boston-based brand will continue to deliver lifestyle-oriented propositions, it’s also utilizing collaboration to further propel its performance-basketball endeavors. Hometown-neighbor Concepts recently assisted it with the “Southern Flame” capsule, which nods to the origins of basketball in Springfield, MA. Draymond Green and Natasha Cloud, both Converse athletes, are also scheduled to launch creative projects throughout 2021’s first-half.
While the world waits to see what Virgil Abloh, Kim Jones and Telfar Clemens’ chevron-and-star-branded designs look like, a few things have already been disclosed: Each project is rooted in the opportunity to break from convention, while considering inclusivity, sustainability and a sense of fun.
Converse’s all-star lineup is likely to begin rolling out its joint-efforts within the next month via Converse.com. For more from NIKE, Inc., check out the Air Jordan 4 “Taupe Haze” set to launch on January 28th.
