Classics Revisited: Nike “Splatter” Dunk Low

To an untrained eye, or even a new jack to the sneaker game, these may come off as nothing but a simple GR dunk. Think again! Though we have come to witness a plethora of collabs and footwear designs that push the limits with multiple colors and exuberant graphics, this splatter treatment was trailblazing in 2002 during a world of simple color blocking standards. Just the fact that a Dave White painting of this shoe exists is a testament to how strong of an impact this shoe really has.

Many may not know, but these were actually designed by the UNDFTD team, however a more limited, different color version was designated as an official collab.  Though it created buzz within a then-dismal sneaker community, it didn’t take until years later for people to appreciate how important such shoes are for the progress of creativity in footwear design. Not only was the design strong, but compared to recent Nike Retros, the quality is superb. What original retailed around $150, a sought-out classic can now be lurking around eBay or by a reseller for more than double the price. Under the radar for many, but truly a classic gem. Head of to our SNHD feature to check out high-quality images of these bad boys.
